“Don’t be afraid to try”- advice from our latest ‘Temp of the Quarter’

We are proud to announce Monika as our latest ‘Temporary Worker of the Quarter’ winner.

Monika has been in her placement with one of our manufacturing clients for just over a year. She has committed to the client during a tricky period as they are closing down the site, showing real loyalty and dedication.

We’ve been awarding outstanding temporary workers for a long time now. One of our specialist technical consultants, Elle Wilson, has worked closely with Monika. The feedback Elle received from Monika’s employer referenced her attitude and tenacity to make the role her own:

The feedback from our client has been amazing. They recognised Monika’s attitude and how she’s taken on such a new role and made it her own. Monika has also consistently hit her performance targets every month to attain additional bonuses.”

We spoke to Monika about her temporary role and how Prince helped her prepare for the interview and the role itself:

“My current position is Customs Co-ordinator. I was very lucky to get this job and very thankful for it. Elle from Prince sent all required information about how to prepare for my interview. It had been 6 years since my last interview so I appreciated the advice.

Monika selected a hamper as her prize. We provide the winners with a choice of prizes so that they can pick one most suited to them. We asked Monika how she felt about winning:

“It was a huge surprise, I’m very pleased with my hamper of chocolate & nut delights.”

There are lots of benefits of taking on temporary work, including personal development and the opportunity to experience new lines of work. This is particularly true for Monika who had previously worked in warehouse operations roles. The experience working in customs and logistics will be useful for her career in the future. We asked Monika what was next for her career:

“I am still working as I know my position is secured for a few more months. During this year I have learnt a lot of new things and I continue to learn every day, gaining practice in the customs field. I hope I will be well prepared for my next job when the time is right.”

We have no doubt that Monika will be well prepared for her next role. Elle Wilson, said:

“Monika has been a delight to work with on her placement. From the beginning she navigated her interview really well, despite the position being a brand new role. Her attendance has been impeccable and she transitioned easily into home working during covid restricted periods.

Prior to this role, Monika was in a permanent role. She took the opportunity to increase her knowledge in the logistics sector by joining this company in a challenging period. This highlights her determination to increase her skillset and her resilience in any situation she is working in. This will stand her in good stead for any future opportunities at the end of her placement.”

Changing professions and starting in a new department or industry can be scary but this didn’t stop Monika. We asked Monika for her top tip for securing a good temp job and she said “don’t be afraid to try!”. So, if you’re considering a new role or a change of career, why not take Monika’s advice and go for it!
