Our Shrewsbury-based client has a vacancy for a Finance Manager on a permanent basis. As Finance Manager, you will oversee the preparation of all accounts up to management accounts level. This hands-on position will cover both the day-to-day financial operations and strategic financial planning and will offer additional exposure to commercial areas of the business.

You will be responsible for:

  • Preparing monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
  • Managing all accounting processes, from data entry through to final review, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Providing financial insights and analysis to support decision-making at the senior management level.
  • Overseeing financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning to support the business’s rapid growth.
  • Managing VAT returns, payroll, statutory accounts preparation, and assisting with year-end audits.
  • Mentoring and leading a junior finance team member to ensure efficient financial operations.
  • Handling commercial responsibilities, including negotiating and agreeing terms of business with suppliers and clients.
  • Managing commercial and credit insurance policies to protect the business’s financial interests.
  • Assisting with Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and other documentation for new business opportunities.
  • Continually improving financial systems and processes to keep pace with business growth.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will need to have demonstrated experience in preparing management accounts, financial forecasting, and delivering financial insights to senior management. You will need a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial operations, with a hands-on approach to both high-level analysis and daily tasks. Experience in managing commercial aspects, such as negotiating terms of business, handling credit insurance, and PQQ submissions. Qualified or part-qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
