We quickly realised that Otis was very positive and enthusiastic and had picked up some great customer service skills, which meant that he’d be a good potential candidate for a variety of different temporary roles.
We initially placed Otis on a short-term administration role helping at a financial services organisation and he tackled the role with a really great attitude. Although our client didn’t have a long term opportunity for Otis they were so impressed they wanted to utilise him in a longer term role within their sister company, a newly formed law firm.
The company said that during his placement Otis was a friendly, professional individual who brought a ray of sunshine even on a grey day and was a fabulous team member. Whilst our client at the law firm found his positive attitude was making a huge impact on the team he works with.
So let’s find out a bit more about Otis and his experience with Prince Personnel.
Tell us about yourself?
I’m Otis, I’m 36 and I live in Telford with my young family. I enjoy tennis swimming and running as I’m preparing for the Amsterdam marathon in October. I really like helping and supporting people as it makes me feel good.
What is your current role?
I work as a Portal Handler for a law firm, so my duty is to help clients over the phone and gather and process information required by insurance companies. It’s a busy job with lots of variety and every day is different.
How did Prince Personnel help you prepare for this role?
I was nervous but everyone at Prince Personnel made me feel very relaxed. Steve really listened to me and helped me understand what sort of work I was interested in. He made me feel comfortable and confident and was able to speak to potential employers about my skills and qualities.
What’s your Top Tip for securing a good temp job?
Looking for a job can be a tough emotionally because of the waiting, but my top tip is to have a positive and can do attitude as it will help in a big way!
How did you feel about winning Temp of the Quarter?
I’m one of those people that don’t really win in competitions, so when I was told I honestly thought they were playing a joke on me. Once I realised I had won I was really shocked and humbled.
What’s next for you?
I am building my client base rapidly and really learning as much as I can, I am going to continue to work hard and I hope to secure a permanent job here.
Can we help?
Every quarter, Prince Personnel makes an award to the candidate they believe has been outstanding in their placement – someone who has really stood out in a crowd and excelled in their chosen role. If you want good quality temporary candidates why not give us a try?
