The Client:

We are working with a successful manufacturing and distribution business in the Telford area who are at an exciting point in their organisational journey who now have an exciting opening for a Supply Chain Manager to join the business as part of the Management team and lead and develop a department (covering Procurement, Planning and Logistics). The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for developing the strategic direction of the Supply Chain function ensuring all procurement, planning warehousing and logistical activities are efficient, cost effective and add value to the overall organisation. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Supply Chain Professional to join an expanding and innovative business with an exceptional reputation in their field.

The Supply Chain Manager will be getting involved in:

  • Effective management, development, and evolution of the Supply Chain Team
  • Ensure material availability for production requirements
  • Inventory forecasting and performance analysis
  • Supplier sourcing and selection whilst monitoring industry trends on pricing and availability
  • Manage the supplier introduction processes through effective tender activities and negotiations around terms and conditions
  • Oversee the production of the schedules ensuring material availability is effective for schedule requirements, considering capacity, labour and despatch schedules
  • Effective management of the distribution facility ensuring effective stock management, compliance of warehouse equipment, effective manning, and space utilisation
  • Management of 3rd party logistics carriers as well as internal transport functions

The person:

  • Previous experience in leading Supply Chain functions (covering purchasing / planning / warehouse and logistics)
  • CIPS qualified
  • Demonstrable experience of supply chain process improvement
  • Advanced MS Excel knowledge and previous effective utilisation of MRP systems
  • Previous experience in a BRC accredited environment will be advantageous
  • Previous roles may be Supply Chain Manager / Supply Chain Lead / Purchasing Manager / Materials Manager / Procurement and Planning Manager or similar.
