We are working with an expanding global manufacturing business in the Telford area, they are looking to recruit an experienced leader to manage a team of circa 20 manufacturing operatives across a rotational morning and afternoons shift pattern. The focus of this role will be on the people management, driving to get the best from the team, mentoring, coaching and developing at all times. The Manufacturing Shift Supervisor will be responsible for:

• Leading a team of 20 manufacturing operatives
• Overseeing the manufacturing cells, ensuring manpower is allocated effectively
• Carrying out inductions, training, PDRs, mentorships and appraisals with the team
• Promoting EHS awareness and ensure the team follow Health and Safety procedures
• Manage all team related HR issues such as holiday planning, absence, any disciplinary or performance improvement situations
• Assist with technical issues and machine breakdowns
• Maintain high quality standards across the department and ensure these are being met by the team
• Utilise lean manufacturing principles to work on continuous improvement projects
• Work closely with production planning, team leaders and other shift supervisors to collaborate effectively
• Monitor and introduce measures in productivity
• Working with the Engineering department on new products development projects

Skills and Experience required:

• Strong leadership experience – ideally in a technical manufacturing environment
• Continuous improvement mind-set
• Good working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and experience implementing
• Working knowledge of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards
• Ideally hold an HNC or above in a relevant Engineering or Business discipline
• Ideally have completed a leadership qualification
• Strong communicator and highly organised
