Prince Personnel are happy to be supporting an established manufacturing client based in Shropshire, who currently have a fantastic opportunity for a driven and ambitious purchasing professional who wants a role where they can take a lead position in setting procurement strategy and lead and develop the purchasing function, instilling efficient procurement processed for materials requisition across the site. This is a great opportunity for either someone with existing leadership experience within a purchasing role, or an experienced Buyer looking to take that next step in their career into a more senior position.

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for:

• Collating data relating to company procurement activities and implementing strategies to help forecast requirements for raw materials and components
• Strategic development of departmental procurement processes and leading/coaching the Purchasing team
• Drive and facilitate effective stock management strategies
• Managing supplier negotiation processes to obtain attractive terms and conditions for pricing, quantities and lead times.
• Placing orders directly with suppliers and e3xpediting where necessary
• Effective management of the supplier portfolio in terms of supplier performance, capability and evaluation
• Identify opportunities for efficiency and cost savings within the supply chain

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in a Buyer / Senior Buyer / Purchasing manager role.
• Ambitious and driven nature with the desire to take accountability
• Previous experience of working with a global supplier base
• Strong commercial awareness and excellent negotiation skills
• CIPS qualification would be ideal but not essential
