Prince Personnel are proud to be recruiting for a well-established global manufacturing organisation who have gone from strength to strength over the last few years. They are now looking for a dynamic Purchasing Supervisor to join and support the Purchasing Manager in developing and coaching a small team of Buyers as well as effectively negotiating costs and supplier terms for manufacturing components and materials.

The Purchasing Supervisor will be responsible for:

  • Researching and sourcing channels of supply
  • Assist with the development of departmental Buyers
  • Develop departmental procedures and processes with a continuous improvement philosophy
  • Manage the supplier quotation process
  • Develop and maintain robust relationships with suppliers through regular contact and meetings
  • Monitor and review supplier performance in relation to delivery/cost/quality and ensure supplier improvement plans are implemented and actioned where necessary
  • Keep abreast of any trends in the market for allocated commodities and utilise this knowledge to aid purchasing strategy

Skills and Experience required:

  • Previous experience in a senior buyer / supervisory level role within a purchasing function within a fast paced, high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Previous success in cost reduction initiatives through VA/VE analysis
  • Experience in working with international supplier base (EU specifically)
  • CIPS / MCIPS will be advantageous
  • UK Driving licence and the flexibility to travel for supplier meetings (UK and internationally) will be essential
