Description

We are working with a global manufacturing business to recruit for a Customer Support Engineer to be based at their site in Telford. This is a unique role, whereby we require a Systems Engineering candidate with electro-mechanical knowledge who is looking to step away from the shopfloor and assist with the installation and training of products on-site at some very prestigious customers in the UK and EU. You will still be hands-on when visiting customers to perform installations alongside displaying a professionalism when presenting products to Customers and offering service support.

The Customer Support Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Installing products at customers manufacturing sites
  • Troubleshooting and repairing products issues
  • Providing trials and training on products to customers
  • Manage the translation of manuals and safety instruction into EU languages
  • Visit customers when required to provide field support – mainly in the UK with occasional EU trips
  • Provide remote support to customers, when possible, via video calls
  • Develop products designs to improve costs and performance for customers
  • Deliver technical presentations, practical demonstrations and test installations
  • Assist the product manager with product stock levels

Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electro-mechanic and electro-hydraulic systems
  • Excellent customer facing skills with the ability to build relationships
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong IT Skills
  • Flexibility to travel when required

Further information on the role:

Currently majority of customer interactions are carried out via video calls, it's estimated that around 20% of your worktime is travelling to customer locations, pre-pandemic, travel rates were up to 75%, they would like the successful candidate to be open to this amount of travel should it return to these levels again. You will be provided with a company credit card for all travel expenses and a fuel allowance. Majority of customer visits are UK-based, with occasional trips to the EU. Hours worked outside of standard contracted hours will be given back as time in lieu. My client also provides further benefits.
