Our Telford client has a vacancy for a hands-on Financial Controller on a permanent basis. The Financial Controller will report directly to the Managing Director and the main purpose of the role will be to manage the whole company accounts. There are no direct reports into this role.

You will be responsible for:

  • Open post daily and distribute
  • Purchase Ledger invoice and payment entry
  • Processing supplier non-purchase order invoices
  • Preparation of manual foreign currency payment requests
  • Supplier statement reconciliation and follow ups where anomalies occur
  • Dealing with supplier queries including late payment enquiries
  • Sales Ledger invoice upload and cash entry
  • Regularly monitor and chase overdue customer accounts
  • Sundry invoicing
  • Filing of Sales and Purchase Ledger invoices
  • Daily bank statement monitoring
  • Daily bank statement reconciliation to nominal ledger
  • Processing miscellaneous and petty cash payments including employee expenses
  • Cash Book payments and receipts entry
  • Banking – paying in cash and cheques and collect foreign currency
  • Payments
  • Preparation and distribution of stocktake sheets, and subsequent analysis
  • Update of foreign currency exchange rates
  • Preparation of monthly Profit & Loss report including reconciliation of sales, stocks and costs
  • Preparation of monthly Balance Sheet from Trial Balance, including reconciliation and write-up of Nominal Ledger accounts
  • Preparation of Sales Analysis Report
  • Preparation of Gross Margin Report
  • Completion of financial government returns
  • Monthly reconciliation of PAYE, NI, pension contributions and sundry payroll deductions and payments
  • Prepare VAT Return and submit to HMRC
  • Duty Drawback Claims
  • To liaise with external and internal auditors
  • To implement accepted audit recommendations.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and happy to take on all accounting duties from start to finish. The client are looking at QBE, part and fully qualified candidates.
