We are currently recruiting an experienced Buyer on behalf of our client who is a leading Engineering organisation based in Telford. Over the last few years the Telford site has experienced significant expansion, so this is an exciting time to join this growing company. The Buyer will be joining the existing Procurement and Planning team and will be responsible for purchasing and sourcing materials for the Telford site.

Responsibilities and duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Responsibility for raising purchase orders with suppliers and ensuring PO's are kept up to date and accurate on the MRP system
  • Ensure that all materials and schedules for current and future material requirements are in line with production plans.
  • Chase and ensure purchase orders are progressed with suppliers and relevant departments are kept up to date with any issues/delays
  • Resolving any materials issues both internally and externally
  • Sourcing new suppliers for raw materials / components and sub-contracting requirements

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in a materials planning / purchasing role from within an engineering/manufacturing organisation
  • Strong knowledge of and experience in applying Supply Chain principles
  • Able to source new methods of supply and negotiate costs / lead-time's / SLA's etc.
  • CIPS qualification would be advantageous but not essential at this stage
  • Knowledge and experience in using computerised MRP systems and MS Excel will be essential
