A well-established global manufacturer located in Telford is looking for a Purchasing Assistant to join their team. Our client has a friendly team of staff onsite and pride themselves on their ability to provide internal promotion within the business and invest in their staff.
As the new Purchasing Assistant, you will be providing support for the Purchasing department and the site in general with required purchase orders. This role requires you to liaise internally with all departments across the business, as well as externally with suppliers and contractors. You will be supporting with all site purchasing involving repeatable commodities such as PPE, Engineering parts, packaging, consumables, as well as more one-off and irregular items to support company events etc.
As the Purchasing Assistant you will be responsible for:
- Raising and processing purchase orders as requested
- Maintain stock levels for consumables across the site
- Sourcing services and components and negotiating with suppliers
- Setting up new suppliers on the ERP System
- Attend supplier meetings
- Manage supplier service levels
The skills and experience you need…
- Previous experience in a Purchasing Assistant / Purchasing Administrator role
- Experience with a manufacturing or engineering environment would be ideal but not essential
- Previous experience in liaising and negotiating with suppliers
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office (outlook, word, excel and PowerPoint)
